Welcome to St. Mark's Preschool!
A ministry of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Glendale, we care for children 24 months through five years of age. With the exception of major holidays, Holy Week break and Christmas break, we are open year-round from 7:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. We have a variety of schedule choices to meet your particular needs, including half day and full day programs.

Our school's overall program is based on the developmental and spiritual needs, interests and experiences of preschool-age children. Each age group and classroom has been carefully and lovingly planned to include balance:
- balance on indoor and outdoor activities
- balance of quiet activities and those which are more active
- balance of teacher-directed activities and child-selected activities
- balance of "traditional" learning techniques and the developmental learning that comes out of play and exploration
We are a Christian school that is a ministry of an Episcopal Church parish, and we take our Baptismal Covenant to heart, that we are to respect the dignity of every human being, and this most definitely includes the dignity of every child in our care. All children are unique and created in God's image, and so we work with each child based on their particular social, intellectual and cognitive style, to help prepare them for their school years ahead in either the public or private school sectors.

Our curriculum encourages your children to explore their imagination and to develop problem-solving techniques. Our religious context is reflected in the joy, caring and watchfulness of all our staff who create an environment in which your children become more and more aware that they are of infinite worth.
We have very high standards for our school and your child's experience here: our teachers and aides teach, guide, nurture and engage with the children in their play, love their work, take delight in your child's discoveries of the world around them, and deeply respect childhood. All our teachers are qualified in Early Childhood Education and Child Development college-level courses, and our school is licensed by the State of California and certified by the Episcopal Commission on Schools, which has awarded us their highest rating.

Richard, our Director, is responsible for classroom and yard supervision.
Our Office Manager, Julia, is responsible for the myriad of organizational details that go into keeping the classrooms running smoothly and the parents fully informed, and the Head of School is responsible for the overall operation of the school and its culture, as well as our business and administrative concerns.

Our advisory board is the Vestry of St. Mark's Episcopal Church and our chief executive officer is the Reverend Mark A. Weitzel, Rector of St. Mark's. This organizational structure allows parish and school to operate as one in the best interests of your children.
Our school does not discriminate against children or families on any basis regarding race, religion, national origin or family structure, and you will find that firm belief readily apparent in the diversity of our students and staff alike.

I love this school, my staff loves this school, and I am confident that your child will also love this school and benefit from their time here in untold ways! We hope that you will make an appointment to see the school in person, talk to the staff, and ask us any questions not answered below. We look forward to meeting you!
Susie Fowler Kenny, Head of School
